How to get to Milan

By plane

Milan is a important and tourist city, so get to this city by plane is very easy. In addition, can end up very cheap thanks to offers of low cost companies, which provide round trip flight from 50 €. Their main airports are very well communicated. However, it is necessary to use public transport to arrive to the city center.

Their main airports are:

  • Milan Malpensa Airport. This airport is one the most important due to his international traffic. It’s situated 45 km to Milan and it has two terminals very separated from each other. Both are connected to free bus line, available every 7 minutes. If you arrive from terminal 1, you can use the train. There are one line which arrive to Central Station and another to go to Sforzesco Castle.
  • Milan Linate Airport. Is the second airport to arrive or leave Milan in national and international flights. It is located 8 km to southeast Milan. From the airports exists the possibility to take a taxi but it’s cheaper use bus line (Starfly or Airbus, among others).
  • Bergamo Airport. It is located 45 km to city center, for this reason the best option is the bus (Orio Shuttle o Autostradale - Terravision) because doesn’t exist train service.

By Train

It’s very easy and comfortable to travel from Europe to Milán on train.  It’s necessary to value fare and length of different trips before deciding. If we choose the train, should know that we will arrive to the city center.

Main train stations are Milano Centrale, Milano Garibaldi y Milano Cadorna.

The most important is Milano Centrale, where arrive regional trains Intercity and Eurosar and Trenitalia ( Vienna, Innsbruck, Salzburg, Paris, Nice, Marseille, Munich, Geneva, Basel, Zurich) and Euronight (London, Paris and Brussels, among any others) from international trips.

Milan owns a high speed train service to main cities of Italy and other Europeans capitals: Frecciabianca, Frecciargento, Frecciarossa e Italo Treno. Trains from Thello (France) and SBB CFF FSS (Switzerland) arrive to Central Station, too.

Bus station of Milan has a several connections, as interurbans as internationals. Depending on the city of departure, fares and lengths can be differents.

The most important terminals of Milan are situated 10 km to the center of Milan. The companies are: Flixbus, Alsa, Infobus, Sinbad, Eurolines y BlaBlaBus.

We don’t recommended us this transport because it maybe end up the most expensive and uncomfortable. Perhaps, we have to dedicate too much hours in this type of trip. Furthermore, in Milan there is a lot of traffic and it’s very difficult to park.
